The Trust is looking for a design proposal that creates an inspiring, innovative and creative space to work and visit, and whilst working alongside and with the main building as a heritage venue, the design proposal should acknowledge the urban context and contemporary lifestyle patterns. A dialogue at a visual and conceptual level between that which is retained of the historic and the language of the new building and material technologies.

The proposed scheme must offer a programme by which the general public can engage with the manufacturing process, the artisans and the final product. Think of how the businesses might present themselves to the public. Consider the needs and expectations of the both visitors and employees.
As both a place of work and heritage leisure venue the design proposal should provide safe and enjoyable spaces compliant with the design principles of health and safety and inclusive design.
